Corporate Mission

BioSystem Development creates, manufactures, sells and supports innovative system products to break through the critical bottleneck of sample processing in the development of new drugs, biomarkers and general life science research.

The growing pressure to reduce the costs of prescription drugs is forcing the industry to make the process of development of new drugs from discovered leads more efficient and cost-effective. Biomolecule assays ? highly specific and sensitive tests used to quantify and analyze particular targets to picogram levels in complex biological samples ? are vital development tools, and modern instruments such as mass spectrometers have vastly increased the amount of information rapidly available to researchers.

However, the processing of samples (from biological systems, clinical patients and manufacturing processes) to prepare them for instrumental analysis remains a crucial bottleneck. Sample prep often involves tedious and time-consuming manual procedures, with complex, difficult to integrate workflows and often creates issues with reproducibility and reliability of critical results. Major trends and mandates from the FDA, including widespread use of biomarkers and Quality by Design, are driving a major need for ever-increasing sample throughput, automation and streamlining of bioanalytical sample processing.

Although many companies offer products for specific applications in this market, no one has yet offered a comprehensive, flexible, open system solution that can handle the full range of different procedures, dramatically improve speed & throughput, provide full automation of the entire workflow, and is easy to adopt and use, while conserving the users? investments in their current validated analytical chemistries. The AssayMAP Bioanalysis Workflow System was developed to meet this important need.
