Corporate Mission

Nanospectra Biosciences (NBI) is developing minimally invasive photo-thermal cancer therapies for solid tumors using its proprietary AuroShell(TM) particles. Our optically-tunable particles are delivered intravenously, activated by a non-thermal laser and destroy solid tumors and related neo-vasculature without damage to healthy tissue.

Although our particle-based photo-thermal therapy is broadly applicable to nearly all solid tumors, we will initially test our therapy in head and neck cancers. An IDE for recurrent and refractory head and neck cancer was filed in 2007.

The advantages of our therapy include: (i) achieving a rapid complete or partial response detectable by the physician within days; (ii) treating early regional metastatic disease before clinical detection; and (iii) remaining compatible with, and potentially enhancing, standard chemotherapy and radiation treatment modalities.

NBI is advised by a group of world-class researchers and experienced biotech entrepreneurs and has secured peer-reviewed grants and awards totaling $5.4 million to develop its technology for cancer treatment and diagnosis and for other applications.
